Another quiet day at home. Again that means Colin and JJ got bundled up and went out to play and I kept the dogs company.

An early Christmas present for the puppies. Whiskey and Gin's dog beds were falling apart so we got them a new one for Christmas. I think they were snooping because a couple of days ago Gin decided to shred the beds and rip all the stuffing out. I made them wait 2 days without beds as a punishment but they got their new bed a little early. Don't mind the demon eyes.....

nothing to do with Christmas here today. Everything holiday got put on hold by the adventure of Jarett loosing his first tooth. It was gross and nasty and I never want to go through it again... did I mention I HATE wiggly teeth and once they fall out I'm even more grossed out. And when they happen to fall out beside my hamburger along with a mouthful of fries and I have to play find the tooth in the half chewed fries game for Jarett it makes it even worse....

Tree is up. Every year there is less room for the "matching ornaments" as JJ's creations take over. In a couple of years the only thing on the tree will be JJ's ornaments and the yearly ornament we buy to celebrate something that happened that year.

JJ has his first loose tooth. Its wiggly alright. Bro is kinda grossed out by the whole thing so of course JJ is wiggling it in front of him every chance he gets....

Just get Halloween over with

Man, this is one crazy time of year... I have so much to do in the next few days I have no idea how to fit it all in. Good thing Bro is taking over pumpkin carving and painting duties.. that saves me a good chunk of time.

I'm almost done the Halloween costumes, then I just have cookies to make.

Not the way to spend a day

I started with some innocent tidying up... that turned into emptying my kitchen and re arranging all my cupboards and furniture in the dining room...

All I can say is JJ better sleep tonight.. he had me up 4 times last night (well he was actually calling daddy but do ya thing he woke up?? ) sucks to be mom some days..

poor kid has a cold, that he caught from me... he was coughing and had a sore throat. I know just how he feels but man is it hard to get him cough medicine in the middle of the night when I'm doped up with cold meds, no glasses on , blinded by the bathroom light and making sure I'm not giving him the wrong dosage... why is the type so tiny on those bottles?? seriously, 9 times out of ten I'm reading it at 2am....

My new crusade.... dosage info on bottle must be in BIG typeface from now on ...

The last of the windows and doors....

my last window (the HUGE one) and the last door came yesterday...

They are in and I am DONE with window people for a long long time I hope.

on a totally unrelated topic... My preschool got invited to go on a train ride to fit in with a transportation theme. And I get to bring JJ along, it will be his first train ride ever and he is so pumped... the best part.. its at the beginning of December so they are going to make sure Santa comes along for the ride too.

I just don't understand some people

So JJ's class has started a program called snuggle up and read. Every day they bring home a simple book to read to an adult in the house, the adult records the title and what words they struggled with. He can read it to any adult as many times as he wants and you record it every time.

So JJ came home with a prize yesterday for hitting the 15 book mark (he already hit 5 and 10 ) I asked who else is on the star for 15 books, he said he is the only one in the class on any star...

NO other parent had time to read a 5 page story with 10 words in it before bed or after school?? now JJ does get ahead since he has me, DH and my brother that lives here to read to but really in 2 weeks no other kid hit 5 books even??

Boggles my mind

Heck he drives me nuts constantly wanting to read to me and we had to get him a library card on the weekend but man... read to your kids people, its the best way for them to learn!!

It just clicked this week, JJ sat down and read an entire story to me, ok it was an easy story, but he did it all by himself!!

I'm so proud of him.... now how do you get him to stop, thats all he wants to do is read to me , LOL!

So its super busy around here right now, and I have to find some time to make the Halloween costumes. Jen decided it would be awesome for the kids to be the characters from wizard of Oz and I foolishly agreed. Now I have to sew a tin man and a scarecrow costume. The lion is easy since my dog is dressing up for that part. I have to make sure to show you the pics.

saving the earth..

OK maybe I can't do it single handed but I can start...

So this week I switched to all green cleaners, no more disposable dusters, sweepers or wipes... just Borax, vinegar and washable cloths...

So far its working quite well I must say, this stuff really does work well.

Bro is still here so I repeat my plea, anyone in need of a fun quirky chemist PLEASE just ask.. I'll even deliver.


I start back at preschool next week (finally, I was supposed to start 2 weeks ago) and I think I've found a routine during my days now that keeps bro and I out of each others way and from killing each other :D

now I just need the bottoms of my feet to quite itching ((random thought I know... but they itch and I don't know why) life would be fab....

Life is getting back to normal

school is almost back in, preschool starts up next week, my old lovable daycare kids are coming back and things are settling down nicely.

Now to find my baby bro a job. If anyone is in need of a funny lovable quirky biochemist let me know, I have one on my couch right now and would be more than happy to ship him to you.

This should mean more time to update the blog now that the crazy summer has passed.

Well that was pathetic

I only mad it 4 days with the new daycare kid and I've decided I'm giving him up. That must be some kind of record for shortest daycare placement ever. But JJ is meserable, the other kids are miserable, DH is miserable (kid is lound and wakes him up every morning) and so now I'm miserable too...

So I took a holiday to get the "me" time Bev keeps telling me I need. It rained, it thundered, it hailed, Whiskey and Gin got intoa wasps nest, Whiskey bit a poison toad... ya it was fun...

JJ wanted to swim off the boat. fine. but needed us to catch him... holy crap was the lake cold.

So now I'm home and have a new daycare kid that is NOT working out at all and the stress levels are right back up again.

At least I have a camping trip coming up soon and hopefully a girls weekend with some incredibly hote girls ;)

I can't believe the summer is flying by so fast... I want it to slow down on one hand on the other I can't wait to get back to my normal routine of teaching preschool and only having kids 3 hours a day instead of 10.

School is almost done...

I can't wait for summer holidays... no preschool, less daycare kids, summer camp for JJ.

Of course the 2 weeks leading up to the holidays are insane and soooooo busy but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now...

I can't sit at the computer

I did something nasty to my back this week... I can hardly walk, forget sitting... so that's why I haven't been around and probably won't be for a little while longer.

from my message boards... but all is fine with me just really really busy

this weekend Colin and I painted the new door trim, re cemented the front steps, cut the grass, bakes 6 cakes, 48 cupcakes and 90 cookies, made icing, grocer shopped, went to the library, went back tot he grocery store for everything we forgot, took my niece shopping, did laundry, went to home depot at least 4 times for stuff for fixing the house, installed a solar light, installed a new thermometer, put the furniture back after the window guys were here, cleaned all the floors, fixed the latch on the gate... it goes on and on... I'll be missing this week too... I now have to ice and decorate all those cakes and cookies and cupcakes....

My new windows and my new front door are being installed today. I have been waiting since I bought this house to replace them..

I can't wait. But of course it happens 2 days after I just cleaned the entire house... Now I'll have to clean it all over again .

It's not enough that I am 30 today... JJ had to walk down the street announcing it to the world...ever person he passed.

At least my BF is making me dinner so I don't have to cook. And I get to go on a shopping spree this weekend with all the gift cards and cash I got as gifts.

Maybe some retail therapy is just the cure for the 30's blahs.

and the snow has stopped, the preschool was a zoo, Colin ripped his leather coat and JJ fell down the stairs.

I on the other hand got my new glasses, 2 cake orders, only 1 daycare kid and an invitation to go to a friends for dinner. I think the 13th is my new fav day.

So my friends are all in hiding out of fear of the 13th. Do people honestly believe this stuff?? yep, even my preschool attendance was low... But I am braving the world and not staying inside today (well I may stay inside, its snowing...but it has nothing to do with the date)

I'll report back in here later to let you know if I survived or not.

On another note... my computer has now been relocated into the basement. The bat cave if you will..... I'll be posting pics of my attempt to make this room a little less dungeon and a little more cheery.

Not quite the Easter we had planned on....

We all got sick, weather was crappy, drive was bad... But we did have some fun on Saturday when we went to Lori's farm. JJ got to ride a horse and pet a goat... How much fun does it look like he had??

Methinks I work to much

So I just found out my hours got increased for the preschool.... I now work 5 days a week. So an average day for me is Daycare from 6am to 9am, teach preschool from 9am to 12pm. Get JJ lunch, walk him to school, walk the dogs, do a bit of housework, pick up JJ from school and the other 5 daycare kids, keep them until 6:30pm, make dinner, CRASH.

That leaves my weekends free for groceries, errands, laundry, soccer practice, swimming lessons... I need a spa day.

Who wants to come with me? If you make it to my place the spa is on me :D Bev? I know you want to come...

Well new glasses anyway. I had my eyes checked today, and I still need glasses... So I should have them in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics when I get them.

The Dr. asked me if I had any concerns with JJs eyes... Theo only one I had was that they had a habit of rolling back into his head when he was asked to do chores.... Unfortunately there is no cure for this terrible disease, so for now I have to tolerate the eye rolls form my 5 year old.. The Dr. did promise to let me know when a medical miracle happens and they find a cure though.... don't think I'll hold my breath though.....

Just a quick update on my pooch

Today for the fsrt time in days he ate something.... He had a 1/4 of a cup of rice and boiled chicken and is now nosing around for some more food... I think this just might mean he is on the mend....

JJ had an exciting day

not only was it Beach day at school with lots of activities but as a reward for raising so much money for MS during the read-a-thon they children were treated to a special guest. Robert Munsch came to read to the kids. Best part he read Up Up Down, JJ's favorite book. He had such a good time. I love that JJ is so into books and reading.

Good thoughts for my baby

No not JJ he is fine. But my eldest furbaby is not. Whiskey has been very sick now for almost 2 days. He won't eat or play (and when Jack Russel Terrier doesn't want to play something is very very wrong) We are taking him to the vet tomorrow AM to see what is wrong with him. I'm worried about the little guy, of course Gin is making him even more miserable by bugging him when he wants to sleep, payback for all the grief he gives her on a daily basis I guess... Here is a pic of my pretty puppy.

Is this week over yet??

man what a week...and its only half over. It's been nothing but parties, meetings, conferences, work.... I need a maid to do all the housework that is being neglected since I'm never home.

J has been a doll though, all he wants to do is play outside now that the weather is looking up. It helps that all the "big kids" are out too and have no problem letting him join in and play hockey with them. The kids on my street are awesome and treat J like gold. I never worry about them when they are out playing. They have yet to get into a fight and if J falls and gets hurt they always help him up and make sure he is ok...

Parties Parties everywhere

Miss Emma had a party last night, and another tonight, then her actually birthday on Thursday, so of course what happened?? the girls got sick... So lets hope they get feeling better real fast otherwise there is going to be a whole lotta cake to eat....

So I've been busy

I had an ECE conference on Saturday, Sunday was errands and some house work, today was cake decorating. I made this Cinderella cake for my niece. Its a white chocolate Cinderella on a lemon pound cake (that I coloured pink). Not an easy cake but for sure a cute girly one.

Had a rough day

Yesterday was a rough day at work, JJ knew this and was so good for the whole night.... He even told me his grilled cheese dinner was the best one ever... sweet I know.

So I made a LO about how sweet this guy is.

Going for teachers pet

Bev posted a challenge over at DSSA to make a LO... She told me I would never be teachers pet due to some ummm sarcastic comments in my past.... Well I bet this changes her mind and puts me at the head of the class. No one else will think to make a LO about how awesome Bev is.

I know we weren't supposed to post our Layouts until Monday Bev but I posted here not DSSA. And I don't think you could be mad at me anyway.

Puppy sitting this week

JJ is thrilled, we get to take care of a friends puppy during the day for them this week. She is so cute and fluffy. JJ loves puppies, although really what little boy doesn't. I asked him if he remembered when gin was a baby and he doesn't...

I hate Tuesdays

yep, everyone complains about monday, not me, give me a monday any day over a Tuesday. Why? Monday I have only 1 daycare kid and no preschool. Tuesday... ALL 5 of my daycare kids come, they come early.... preschool grand total of 14 kids come, 6 of them with disabilities/high needs. Today was hours of yelling/screaming/crying/fighting..... and its only half over....

So here is my LO about my year so far... I really need to learn to relax...

So this is spring

It's the middle of march and still snowing here.... I can't wait for the nice weather to hit. Of course then it will probably get really hot and I'll be complaining about a heat wave. Now you know why I love fall, not too hot or cold and no bugs, what could be better??
